These are some planned walks for the future.
*The distances and paths are subject to change based on access and paths found on the day.
Distance: 29.5km
Googles Time Est: 6 Hours 37 Minutes
I am hoping to get over to Nyah West soon to catch up with some family that live over there, and it gave me the idea of doing a walk in a different part of Victoria for a change, I'm not sure If I would do the full walk from Swan Hill, or if I start from a settlement slightly closer, but either way, its some nice countryside up north and it should be really good to catch up with family too.
Distance: 7km
Googles Time Est: 1 Hour 36 Minutes
This will be the final walk in the connection to Diggers Rest, with the goal being to have the line complete up until Riddells Creek beforehand.
The plan is to then complete the final 3-town stretch in the same day, finally arriving in Diggers Rest to complete the ~250km journey across Victoria.
Distance: 13.8km
Googles Time Est: 3 Hours 4 Minutes
The middle portion for the final stretch, the walk the brings us out to Sunbury, into the flight path from the airport and the fields around Calder Raceway.
Distance: 6.8km
Googles Time Est: 1 Hour 30 Minutes
The first portion of the final stretch, this takes us back to a part of Victoria that's been stuck in my mind ever since the Mac-Gis-RCreek walk a few weeks back.
Hopefully Riddell airfield offers some good viewing on the way past.
Distance: 23.9km
Googles Time Est: 5 Hours 33 Minutes (Potentially Overnight)
Following the rail line takes us through Chewton, Elphinstone, Taradale and finally into Malmsbury.
Another of thew longer walks in this project, it should be similar in distance to my very first long walk to Strathallen from Echuca in June.
I also have family along this walk, so I may even get a chance to catch up with them depending on the day I choose to complete this stretch.
Distance: 39.7km
Googles Time Est: 9 Hours (Potentially Overnight, Or split)
This is the walk I am by far the most excited for.
It is a track I have followed with my eyes on the train for years, and constantly looked at the track that follows and thought to myself: "I want to be there one day".
This will be the longest walk yet, and may require a new pair of shoes to be able to complete, on account of the blisters that my current pair cause after a fair amount of use.
I will need to really take care on this walk as it is a longer one, and it may even be worth taking a means of sleeping on the ground overnight, or a way to rest for a while in the middle to allow some recovery before continuing.
This stretch of rail also contains an extremely long tunnel, going through a tal mountain which I am unsure if I can get over. This will raise some challenges I am keen to overcome, but you'd be damned if you think you'll find me trying to go through that tunnel.
Distance: 5.1km
Googles Time Est: 1 Hour 11 Minutes
This will be the second stretch in the walk across Bendigo starting from Epsom.
I might deviate from this path just a little bit, just to get off the main road going straight down the centre of Bendigo, maybe around the industrial estate or through the bush-land bordering the City.
Distance: 8km
Googles Time Est: 1 Hour 52 Minutes
The first stretch of the connection between northern and southern Victoria.
Being a town walk I am going to take it a bit easier, as walking on paved concrete hurts my feet and knees quite a bit, but I'm keen to try see some parts of Bendigo I haven't seen before.
I might bring Rani on this walk, whether I bring the dog pram will remain to be seen, but I have dreamed of doing a lap of the Weeroona Lake in Bendigo with Rani ever since I got her.
